Containing such rare specimen as a model of Vasco da Gama's ship, this museum gives an insight into the maritime history of Faro, while the Ethnological Museum shows the locals' traditions and lifestyle. Those who are fond of history should also visit Faro's Archaeological and Lapidary Museum that is famous for its numerous prehistoric artifacts

As each ancient European city, Faro in Algarve has many churches, one of which is Nossa Senhora do Carmo. However, one shouldn't visit it with small children, as the chapel was made of the bones of monks who lived here. Below the skeletons of 1.245 monks there is an inscription which says: “Stop here and think of the fate that will befall you.”
Nevertheless, Faro in Algarve is a very pleasant place that can cater to anyone's taste. Even birds fly here from different corners of the world to spend the winter in this hospitable city.
