Algarve Silves

Originally Silves in Algarve was the first capital of the whole district and, in the 19th century, it was called “the Kingdom of the Algarve”. The Moors who occupied it not only built luxurious palaces but also made Silves in Algarve – or Xelb, as it was named during that period – the cultural and educational center of the whole Iberian Peninsular.
