Hi Buzz, You will find the tourist orientated places selling the likes of John Smiths and Boddies etc. However I would also suggest givin Sagres Bohemia a try. It is basically a black beer. Not into it myself as I am a lager boy but bitter drinkers I know say it is fine. And a lot cheaper than the J.S and boddies imports etc.

thanks for the reply, I'll give it a go. I have had superboc from asda and to be honest it wasn't bad at all.

Ah, beer! I'd agree that Sagres Bohemia is worth a try, although after the fourth or 5th it can be hard going!

I am also a confirmed bitter man but find Superbock quite drinkable while propping up the bar watching the football.

Sagres Bohemia and SuperBock Abadia are both quite nice and my beers of choice (Sagres in my opinion is better than SuperBock). They are known as Cervejas Ruivas. Ruivo/a means red-haired or red-head literally. Dark beers or Cervejas Pretas (literally "black beers") are also available. The rest of the "beer" is just like the lager you find anywhere in the world...very average stuff, but if needs must.
