PLEASE help find a home for Daisy!

Postby Bruxinha » Thu Jun 05, 2008 10:01 am

PLEASE click on the thumbnails below and help Rebelbuck and I find a home for sweet Daisy. Daisy was found on one of his friend's doorsteps a few days ago. They rushed her to the nearest vet in Lagoa fearing that the only humane thing to do would be to have her put to sleep. However, the vet said she could recover with medication and treatment. She is now being treated and looked after by Rebel and his friends. Unfortunately, Rebel cannot home her due to his own dog and his friends are back to the UK shortly, as they are second home owners. These wonderful people even extended their stay in Portugal to pay for her vet's treatment and help her get back on her paws!

As you can see she is in a pretty poor state BUT already the vet has manged to rid her of parasites and worms, so she can be re-homed. Her wounds will recover and her fur will eventually grow back, and with such a sweet nature, who wouldn't want her?

SO PLEASE if anyone feels that they can give Daisy a chance of a comfortable, peaceful life, PM me or e-mail Rebel at rebelbuck10 @ gmail.com

MORE DAISY PICS!!

Yesterday I went to visit Daisy. She is adorable! Although still a little poorly with her skin, she has obviously improved greatly and was even skipping about a bit when my friends and I took her some more food, biscuits and her medication earlier this evening. I managed to give her a bit of a cuddle against me when I went to say goodbye. Such a sweetie and she would make someone a lovely companion. Her life is a lot more comfortable than it was, as she is having all her needs met by my friends, including a little, gentle walk around the block, but they are having to look after her at their neighbours place in an outside shelter in the garden, so she really needs a nice and permanent home!! The kind people that paid for her medical bills are calling every day from the UK to see how she is!

Cheers Bruxy, I did send a few emails to people but didn't have any joy. Unfortunately one of them had just bought 2 cats a week before I mailed. Shame as she would have done the dog proud. Have also posted this link in another forum too to see if attracts any more views etc.
Good luck.

Thanks, Diskwizz...such a nice, sweet dog....really deserves a good home. I have also put her on about 4 forums. We've had a couple of possible interested people, just waiting to see if they come back to us after being away....in the meantime...keep looking.

Daisy's blood tests came back on Monday positive for leishmaniasis. I think we all suspected she had it. Anyway, while not great news, it isn't the end of the world. It just now means that she will have to have tablets for the rest of her life. Luckily they are quite cheap at €4.32 for 50 tablets (she will need 2 a day).

The vet also prescribed her iodine solution and cream for her skin. Her fur has started growing back already and most of it should come back in around another 3 to 4 weeks, especially since she is now being treated with all the correct medications.

Here are some nice pictures taken earlier:

Oh, and yesterday I received these...I can't believe how well she is coming on...AND it seems she is fine with other dogs too, as the photos show. Rid of all her nasties, she is OK to associate with other pets now and she did it in style by meeting a lovely dog called Jasper. :D

As far as I am aware, the people that are looking after her in Portugal are trying to organise a pet passport (it takes around 6 months), so that she can go back to the UK to live with the people that found her i.e. their friends. I'll try to find out more soon.
